HP Bullets Load Guideline

GS Custom HP Bullets can be loaded according to the load data of any powder manufacturer for the same weight and caliber of jacketed lead bullet. Do not use the load data for any other monometal bullet, especially not the load data for our HV, SP and FN bullets. The rules below must be applied to ensure safe procedure is followed.

1.

Always start with the recommended start load indicated in the load data.

2.

Adjust the given maximum speed up or down by 25fps for every inch your barrel is longer or shorter than 24 inches.

3.

Bullet weights below 100gr can be worked up in half-grain increments while bullets over 100 grains can be worked up in one-grain increments.

4.

Do not work up to the maximum charge weight indicated. The maximum charge weight given is not a reliable number.  Instead, work up to the maximum speed indicated and adjusted for barrel length as in 2 above.

5.

Never exceed the speed given for the maximum load. When you have reached the maximum speed indicated, that is the maximum load for your rifle, even if it is achieved with a charge weight that is higher or lower than the one that is given in the data. GSC recommends that a speed 50fps to 100fps lower than maximum be used for general shooting.

6.

GS Custom HP Bullets should be loaded at least one millimeter (0.04") off the rifling.

7.

If you do not have a chronograph, beg, borrow or steal one, or stay with the start load indicated by the data you have chosen to use.

Bullet numbers consist of the caliber (xxx) the weight (xxgr) the bullet type (HP) and the part number (xxx).

Some GS Custom bullet weights are not covered by Somchem, the South African manufacturer of powder.
GSC will assist with loads, should this be the case.

If your cartridge / bullet weight combination is not listed by Somchem, check the GSC HP bullet load
data tables or contact the technical helpline at CONTACT US.

See a chart comparing more than 260 powders for links to the various manufacturers.
