September 2008
Earlier this
year I received GSC .458 caliber, 400 gr. FN bullets. I took them to
Alaska where they will be used in .450 Alaskan, .450 Marlin, .45-70 Gov. Brown
Bear Guide Rifles.
I took a bear at 20 yards, with the bullet pushed to 1750 fps out of a .45-70. While not impressive figures, performance was outstanding. The bullet took out the upper heart and penetrated straight on breaking the off-shoulder at the joint, exiting. The bear climbed a small bank and died not 15 yards further.
I might
tinker a little more with the load, but I got my bullet for backing up
clients.
